Change of leadership at SZINORG Group — a new CEO takes 2026 forward
A new chapter in the leadership of SZINORG Group began on 1 January 2026: as a result of a long-prepared generational handover, the combined Chairman and CEO role has been separated. World Cleanup Day — together for a cleaner environment

Hotel Lycium to be renewed under our Group's management, as part of an international hotel chain
Szinerty Kft., a subsidiary of our Group, won the tender issued by Debreceni Vagyonkezelő Zrt. (DV Zrt.) for the lease of Hotel Lycium Debrecen. At the ceremonial general assembly held on 11 April to mark Debrecen's city day, the city's most prestigious honours were presented. Gyula Szűcs, Chairman and CEO of Szinorg Universal Zrt. and Chairman of the Board of HUNÉP Zrt., was awarded the title of honorary citizen.

Sensirion's second production hall in Debrecen officially opened
On 9 April, Sensirion Hungary Kft.'s second production hall and new logistics centre in Debrecen were formally opened at a ceremony. The investment, worth close to HUF 4.5 billion, was delivered on a build-to-suit basis by WX Sharing Kft., jointly owned by SZINORG Group and XANGA Group.

SZINPARK: foundation stone laid for Debrecen's new logistics centre
On 7 March 2025 the foundation stone of the SZINPARK logistics centre was laid in Debrecen at a formal ceremony, opening new industrial and logistics opportunities for the city's businesses. Our investment covers a 110,000 m² site, where — including the phase now under way — multifunctional warehouse halls totalling some 60,000 m² will be built, expanding the industrial infrastructure and supporting economic growth. Located in Debrecen's North-West Economic Zone, the development aims to support companies and logistics providers in the industrial park with modern, high-quality warehouse capacity.

Construction industry Nívódíj award for the Csokonai Nemzeti Színház building
HUNÉP Zrt., a subsidiary of our Group, handed over the fully refurbished theatre in 2023. The historic building has now been recognised by the Board of Trustees of the Építőipari Mesterdíj Foundation. By 2024, 241 buildings nationwide had earned the distinction, which was established in 1994 by the National Federation of Hungarian Building Contractors (ÉVOSZ) and the Hungarian Association of Building Science.

After a five-year break, the Debrecen City Ball was held again on 25 January 2025. Organised for the eighth time by the municipality together with the University of Debrecen and the Hajdú-Bihar County Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the ball was once again held in the spirit of charity: the proceeds support the Public Foundation for Talented Young People of Debrecen.

Our HUF 100 billion development plans for Debrecen, Hungary's second capital
Our Group, counted among the region's largest developers, enters the rest of the decade with ambitious plans. Mercure Debrecen may carry the Hungarian Hotel and Restaurant Association's Green Hotel title for the next two years
Forty-seven hotels submitted applications to the association this year. Based on the scores, a three-member professional jury is awarding 25 gold, 21 silver and one bronze grade. A special prize is also being presented, for "the most promising green progress".

Mercure Debrecen Hotel awarded international BREEAM Excellent certification
The Mercure Debrecen Hotel was completed in 2022 as an investment by Bajcsy Invest Kft., a project company of the SZINORG group. The hotel has now been open for three years, establishing a firm place among business tourism providers in the market and taking an active part in the growth of the city's tourism.

Sensirion's newest logistics centre in Debrecen completed through our Group's investment
Sensirion, a leading manufacturer of digital microsensors and systems, announced at the start of the year that in light of Sensirion Hungary Kft.'s rapid growth it would expand its Debrecen site by a further 7,000 m². Construction of the new high-tech logistics centre accordingly began in February, on the build-to-suit basis already used successfully for the first plant. As before, this development — worth some HUF 4.5 billion — was delivered through an investment by WX Sharing Kft., jointly owned by the Szinorg and Xanga groups. In the first phase, Sensirion's new high-tech logistics centre was completed in record time, by October 2024.

Sensirion invests billions of forints in its Debrecen production plant

The city's most prestigious honours presented
Debrecen was granted the rank of free royal city on 11 April 1693. To mark the occasion, the city assembly confers honorary titles on that day each year. This year too the body held its ceremonial session at the Kölcsey Központ.

The Mercure Debrecen opens
A new four-star superior hotel has opened on Bajcsy-Zsilinszky utca in Debrecen. Delivered as an investment by Bajcsy Invest Kft., a project company of Szinorg Universal Zrt., the Mercure Debrecen was built at a cost of HUF 8.4 billion, of which HUF 3.5 billion came as support under the Hungarian Tourism Agency's Kisfaludy programme.

HALMS Hungary Kft. to build a new plant in Debrecen
Chinese-owned HALMS Hungary Kft. is establishing a plant producing components for electric vehicles, with more than EUR 40 million of investment and HUF 1.5 billion of government support, creating 300 new jobs in Debrecen.

HAJDU-ALU Zrt. awarded a non-repayable grant
HAJDU-ALU Zrt., a member of the SZINORG group, has been awarded a non-repayable budget grant of HUF 287,272,000 from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade under Ministerial Decree 7/2020 (16 April) on competitiveness-enhancing support made necessary by the coronavirus pandemic, in the call reference VNT 2020-1 announced on 20 April 2020.

Debrecen's Szinorg raises close to HUF 5 billion in capital
The National Bank of Hungary launched its corporate bond purchase programme last summer, raising its budget to HUF 450 billion in December. One condition of taking part in the Bond Funding for Growth Scheme is that companies obtain a rating of at least B+ from a credit rating agency. The Master Good group, owned by László Bárány and his family of Debrecen, has already taken part in the programme, as has Debrecen-based Trans-Sped, which raised HUF 5 billion in capital through the transactions.

Szinorg Universal Zrt. holds a successful bond auction
The National Bank of Hungary launched its corporate bond purchase programme last summer, raising its budget to HUF 450 billion in December. One condition of taking part in the Bond Funding for Growth Scheme is that companies obtain a rating of at least B+ from a credit rating agency. Scope Ratings has been assessing Hungarian companies planning bond issues throughout last year and this; it published its assessment of Szinorg Universal Zrt. in February, assigning the company a B rating with stable outlook and rating its bonds B+ — the National Bank's minimum requirement for admission to the Bond Funding for Growth Scheme.

A four-star hotel for Debrecen city centre
The project developed by Bajcsy Invest Kft., part of the Szinorg group, is aimed at building a new hotel offering quality service in the centre of Debrecen. Delivered with innovative, distinctive architectural solutions, the four-star hotel is aimed primarily at business and MICE tourism and secondarily at individual leisure travellers and tourist groups. Alongside the hotel's successful introduction to the Hungarian and international markets, its profitable operation and its positive effects on tourism, the investor also regards making use of the opportunities in regional resources and in partnership as important.

Participation in the National Bank of Hungary's Bond Funding for Growth Scheme
To place corporate funding on more than one pillar and to increase liquidity in the corporate bond market, the National Bank of Hungary launched the Bond Funding for Growth Scheme (NKP) on 1 July 2019. Bond issuance can offer larger companies in particular an alternative to bank funding.
