HALMS Hungary Kft. to build a new plant in Debrecen

Chinese-owned HALMS Hungary Kft. is establishing a plant producing components for electric vehicles, with more than EUR 40 million of investment and HUF 1.5 billion of government support, creating 300 new jobs in Debrecen.

The plant will occupy a hall in the Southern Industrial Park being developed by Huxa Kft., the project company of the Xanga and Szinorg groups, as investor, and built by HUNÉP Zrt. According to István Herdon, Chairman and CEO of the Xanga group, the 30,000 square metre hall housing the investment is the first phase of a 55,000–60,000 square metre development, expected to be handed over in February next year.

At the investment announcement ceremony on 12 September 2022, Matthew Shen Shanzong, Managing Director of Halms Hungary Kft., noted that the Debrecen plant will produce top-tier aluminium alloy components — among them electric motor housings — on fully digitalised and automated production lines, contributing to the future of electric mobility.
