World Cleanup Day is an international clean-up initiative that close to 200 countries have now joined. It is one of the world's largest annual litter-collection programmes: in 2023 it mobilised 198 countries and some 19 million volunteers in the effort for a cleaner environment. The movement aims to reduce the volume of waste, and last year alone close to 220 tonnes were collected.

This year's event took place on 20 September, and our colleagues joined in enthusiastically once again. The local initiative "Debrecenben kéne szedni…" sets out to encourage corporate environmental responsibility and to draw attention to the problem of illegal dumping. Together with us, more than 150 employees from 14 companies collected abandoned and illegally dumped waste across close to 60 square kilometres around Erdőspuszta. In all, 100 cubic metres of waste were gathered.
