Mercure Debrecen may carry the Hungarian Hotel and Restaurant Association's Green Hotel title for the next two years

Forty-seven hotels submitted applications to the association this year. Based on the scores, a three-member professional jury is awarding 25 gold, 21 silver and one bronze grade. A special prize is also being presented, for "the most promising green progress".

Hotels — among them the Mercure Debrecen, operated by our Group — are placing steadily greater emphasis on environmental protection, not only through technical readiness and regulatory compliance but through management measures aimed at changing attitudes, often seemingly small ones.

Sustainability and environmental protection matter a great deal to our Group, which is why we support a range of greening programmes. We are convinced that a company must not only deliver economic results but take responsibility for the community and the natural environment in which it operates. Striking a balance between industrial development and nature is, in our view, not merely possible but essential.

Mercure Debrecen

Applicants were notified of their grade (gold, silver or bronze) by letter, and the awards and rankings were announced at the gala dinner of the association's 60th general meeting on 7 November.

On the strength of its successful application, the Mercure Debrecen is entitled to carry the "Green Hotel 2025–2026" title from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2026.
